CLACSO Working Groups Meeting in Boston

As part of CLACSO's participation in the XXXVII Congress of LASA, the Latin American Studies Association, on Saturday, May 25, the following took place a General meeting of CLACSO Working Groups and member centers, with the presence of the Executive Secretary Karina Batthyány and the Directors Pablo Vommaro of Research, Nicolás Arata of Training, and Gustavo Lema of Communication and Information.

In an interview with CLACSOTV, Pablo Vommaro spoke about the importance of broad participation and the interest in the upcoming call for Working Groups for 2019-2020. He emphasized that a “consolidation phase” is beginning after “three years of high productivity. The groups grew significantly, from 48 to 110 groups with almost 5.000 members. There was a lot of participation, a lot of output at international events, publications, influence on public policy, and work with social movements.”

Among those present were the Working Groups “Afro-descendants, racism and resistance in the Caribbean”, “Anti-capitalisms and emerging sociabilities”, “Global environmental change, territory and environmental policies”, “Crisis and world economy”, “Bodies, territories and resistances”, “Sport, public policies and society”, “Contemporary right-wing movements: dictatorships and democracies”, “Urban inequalities”, “Political ecology”, “Feminist economics”, “Education and work”, “Education and life in common”, “Critical studies of rural development”, “Studies on the United States”, “Families, genders and diversities”, “Feminisms, resistances and emancipatory processes”, “Gender, (in)equalities and rights in tension”, “Geopolitics, regional integration and the world system”, “Youth and childhoods”, “Educational policies and the right to education”, “Universities and higher education policies”, “Penal system and social change”.
