IX Call – Working Groups

 IX Call – Working Groups

WORKING GROUPS PROGRAM

OPINION

Within the framework of this call for proposals, 176 proposals were submitted by 7085 participants. After the technical and formal review, 167 applications were advanced to qualitative and content evaluation by an international jury.

Most of the proposals were of high quality, consistency and relevance, which made the selection process more difficult.

Pablo Vommaro , Director of Working Groups and Research Promotion, explained to CLACSO Radio that the 90 new Working Groups bring together more than 4.100 members from 55 countries, organized into 30 thematic areas addressing diverse Latin American and Caribbean issues with a global perspective, increasingly focused on the Global South. “Thinking about Latin America, thinking about the Caribbean, is also thinking about the world,” he summarized.

The evaluation process for the submitted proposals was carried out in four consecutive stages:

1) First, compliance with the technical requirements established in the call for proposals was considered.

2) Secondly, an international jury evaluated the quality, relevance, and strength of the proposals through a double-blind peer review process. Each proposal underwent a double evaluation, ensuring that the evaluators were not from the same institution or country as the coordinators of the applications being evaluated.

The International Jury was composed of 125 specialists (55 women and 70 men) from 25 countries: Adrián Bonilla, Adrián Piva, Alberto Bonnet, Alfredo Nateras, Alicia Puyana, Alicia Servetto, Amparo Hernández, Ana Corina Hernández, Ana Silvia Monzón, Angélica Cuellar, Ariel Gómez, Arturo Escobar, Bela Feldman, Carlos Custer, Carlos Figueroa Ibarra, Carlos Mario Perea, Carlos Ramos, Carmen Caamaño, Carolina Jiménez, Catalina Toro, Clara Arenas, Claudia Puerta, Claudio Lara, Cristiano Gianolla, Daniel Buquet, Darío Figueredo Salinas, Dídimo Castillo, Edgardo Lander, Eduardo Rueda, Eduardo Toche, Elissa Lister, Elvira María Martín, Ernesto Villanueva, Eugenia Correa, Fabio Grobart, Federico Schuster, Fernanda Beigel, Fortunato Mallimaci, Francisco Pucci, Franklin Ramírez Gallegos, Freddy Ordoñez, Gabriel Kessler, Gabriel Misas, Gabriela Arguedas, Gabriela Diker, Gerardo Ordoñez, Gissela Dávila, Graciela Castro, Guillermo Castro, Gustavo Fischman, Inés Dussel, Ingrid Sarti, Ivonne Farah, Jaime Estay, Jaime Preciado Coronado, Jaime Zuluaga, Jairo Estrada, Javier Gómez, Jenny Assael, Jenny Torres, Jorge Marchini, José Machado Pais, Juan José Sosa, Juan Piovani, Julio Gambina, Justo Cuño, Leticia Salomón, Lucio Oliver, Mabel Thwaites Rey, Manuel Garretón, Manuel Rivera, Marcelo Urresti, Marcio Pochmann, Marcos Dantas, Mareia Quintero, Margarita Gutman, Margarita Vannini, María del Carmen Ledo García, María Inés Peralta, María Isabel Domínguez, María Mercedes Eguiguren, Mariela Cuadro, Mario Pecheny, Marisa Pineau, Marta Rosa Muñoz Campos, Martín Unzué, Massimo Modonesi, Matías Carámbula, Mauricio Tubío, Mauro Benente, Mercedes Calzado, Miriam Rodríguez Martínez, Monica Dias Martins, Montserrat Sagot, Myriam Feldfeber, Nestor Restivo, Nicolás Iñigo Carrera, Nora Garita, Omar Rincón, Orlando Caputo, Oscar Almario, Oscar Ugarteche, Pablo Alabarces, Pablo Uc, Pablo Emilio Angarita, Pablo Yanes, Patricia Pensado, Pedro Brieger, Ramonina Brea, Eugenio Raúl Zaffaroni, Rosalba Casas, Salete Valesan, Sandra Arito, Sara Victoria Alvarado, Sergio Balardini, Silvia Delfino, Stalin Gonzalo Herrera, Susana Sosenski, Susana Mallo, Susana Novick, Susana Villavicencio, Teivo Teivainen, Victor Jeifets, Vivian Urquidi and Yamandú Acosta.

The Steering Committee adopted this resolution, seeking to incorporate new Working Groups and allowing the continuation of existing proposals that received positive evaluations. As a result, 27 of the approved proposals are new, and 63 are from existing Groups reapplying.

2. Recommend the following collaborations with the intention of producing synergies that recover the contributions and potential expressed in these proposals:

  1. That the approved Working Group “Participatory Processes and Methodologies” coordinated by Alejandro Noboa and Alfonso Torres, be articulated with the proposal “Militant Research: Theory, Practice and Method”, coordinated by Renata Versiani Scott Varela and Pablo Saravia Ramos.”
  2. That the approved Working Group “Bodies, territories and feminisms”, coordinated by Delmy Tania Cruz Hernandez and Juia Agustina Díaz Lozano, articulate with the proposal “Situated Motherhoods: perspectives from the south”, coordinated by Johana Kunin and Rosamaría Cerneiro.
  3. That the approved Working Group “Borders: mobilities, identities and trades”, coordinated by Miranda Bruno, Mariela Paula Díaz and Yolanda Alfaro, be articulated with the proposal “Migration and border regimes”, coordinated by Corina Courtis and Olga Edger Ortiz.
  4. That the approved Working Group “South-South Migration”, coordinated by Claudia Pedone, Caterine Joanna Galaz Valderrama and Marcio Sergio Batista Silveira de Oliveira, be articulated with the proposal “Policarpa Salavarrieta-CLACSO Project”, coordinated by Víctor Manuel Gómez Moreno.
  5. That the approved Working Group “Critical Studies in Disability”, coordinated by Víctor Alexander Yarza de los Ríos, Paula Mara Danel and Berenice Pérez Ramírez, articulate with the proposal “Migration and disability in the Central America-Mexico-United States context”, coordinated by Patricia Claudia Brogna and Roberto Rodríguez Melendez.

Acceptance of proposals does not imply automatic approval of the submitted budgets. Funding available to the Working Groups will be determined based on the provisions of the Call for Proposals, CLACSO's available funding, and any requests submitted, following a procedure that will be outlined in due course.

In accordance with the provisions of the Call for Proposals, this ruling is final and cannot be appealed.
