Condemnation of the spying on activists and intellectuals in Argentina
In recent weeks, the existence of files prepared by the Federal Intelligence Agency (AFI) under the presidency of Mauricio Macri (2015-2019) has come to light in Argentina. These files contain data on social and political leaders, academics, and journalists, including personal and ideological information, and categorize them according to their relationship with the government, constituting a blatant persecution of critical thought.
The Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO) views this illegal espionage with great concern. We join the many condemnations of the persecution suffered by activists and intellectuals—including CLACSO researchers—and extend our support and solidarity to them.
