Accounts of gender-based political violence in Brazil
In this book, Manuela d'Ávila brings together the testimonies of fourteen women—prominent political figures, activists, and members of social organizations in Brazil—who raise their voices to denounce, punish, and deconstruct the gender-based political violence they suffer. They emphasize that this violence is not an isolated incident, but rather a signal to the rest of society. All the testimonies agree that this is why it is so important to make it visible: if the perpetrators are confronted and punished, the message will be that society no longer accepts or tolerates violence against women.
