Reflections on the meeting with Dilma
Former President Dilma Rousseff visited Buenos Aires for the launch of the “Committee for Lula’s Freedom and Justice for Marielle.” Along with other members of the CLACSO Steering Committee, I was able to accompany her at both public events and working meetings, standing shoulder to shoulder with her in our demands for justice and truth in Brazil and other Latin American countries.
The occasion was opportune to strengthen the already solid ties, and to plan new activities in favor of freedom and education in our region.
In my speech at the well-attended event, I reiterated the commitment of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences to continue raising high the banners of Lula's liberation and the memory and example of Marielle Franco, and to promote the formation of committees throughout the region.
During her short stay, Dilma was kind enough to grant us an interview that was widely broadcast by CLACSOTV and CLACSO Radio, in which she encouraged, once again, not to give up.
I invite you to visit the page http://lulalibre.org I have already joined the “Argentine Committee for the Freedom of Lula and Justice for Marielle,” which, in its declaration of principles, denounces the persecution of those who embody the struggles for social and political change in Latin America. Hundreds have already signed, joining the Brazilian people in their fight for justice.
