Knowledge network on the right to education from the Global South
This knowledge network is based on the cooperative and exchange relationships that have been maintained for years by Arab Council of Social Sciences-ACSS, the Council for the Development of Social Science Research in Africa-CODESRIA and the Latin American Council of Social Sciences-CLACSO and aims to study, produce knowledge, influence and disseminate information on the right to education from the perspective of the Global South.
This Red It has the approval and support of the Open Society Foundations and is carried out through collaborative, cooperative and coordinated work, in which it is proposed to identify what is common based on the recognition of diversities.
From the alliance and cooperation between these three Councils (CLACSO CODESRIA and ACCS) the Coordination Committee was consolidated and the Working Groups are in the process of being formed to carry out the agreed research.
The network aims to integrate intellectuals, researchers, activists, teachers, students, community members, and individuals from diverse social spaces who are broadly involved with the right to education, and to create a space capable of influencing the debates over the production of meaning in education and the construction of understandings of the current dynamics of production and reproduction of social and educational inequalities, in order to contribute to public policies and social experiences that counteract them.
The work of the Network will initially take place between August 2021 and July 2023.

REGS NETWORK – Right to Education from the Global South
CLACSO-CODESRIA-ACSS
This knowledge Network is based on a long term cooperation between ACCS, CODESRIA and CLACSO and its purpose is to study, produce tools and strategies that further ensure the right to education on equal terms and to advocate to public policies, both locally and at national levels with a Global South perspective.
This network has been approved and is supported by the Open Society Foundations.
The work is collaborative and we propose to identify common areas taking into account and recognizing diversity such as historically and economically disadvantaged groups, ethnic, racial and sexual minorities as well as migrants, refugees and displaced people, indigenous population, women, LGBTIQ+ groups, colored groups, afro-descendants, temporary and transnational migrants and others.
The Coordination Committee was created as of the three Council alliance (CLACSO CODESRIA and ACCS) and we are in the process of forming the Working Groups to carry out the agreed research in the different regions.
The network's proposals are to include multi stakeholders such as academics, teachers, educational policy decision-makers, students, persons who may speak on behalf of alternative and diverse educational experiences, members participating within social organizations and representatives of international associations and link them to the right to education and to be able to generate a space capable of influencing the disputes over the production of meaning in education and the understanding of the current dynamics of production and reproduction of social and educational inequalities. In this way, the RED proposes to contribute information to be considered in public policies and social experiences to face them.
