I reject all forms of violence or abuse of power in social, cultural, and academic environments.
El CLACSO Working Group on Territorialities, Spiritualities and Bodies It expresses its stance of rejection towards any form of gender violence, epistemic violence or any type of patriarchal practices, exclusion or abuse that may occur in different social, cultural and/or academic environments.
The investigative and conceptual creation work cannot be guided by anything other than the commitment to the reaffirmation of life, difference, the critical convergence of diversity and the struggle for the rights of those who have been historically excluded and those who have no voice.
That is why academia and any space for building knowledge must be a safe space, where the principles of caring for oneself and others are fundamental, as a starting point for the recognition and reaffirmation of other ways of existing and the construction of actions that distance themselves from the practices that have been denounced and disqualified for years, by the exercise of critical thinking and the defense of human rights, as well as by the long tradition and experience of the social processes of women, LGBTIQ+ communities, peoples and communities, whose struggle is an example and reference for rethinking territorialities and resistances.
In this regard, our CLACSO Working Group considers it necessary to reaffirm that forms of violence, exclusion, subjugation and abuse of authority, as well as patriarchal models and any type of mistreatment based on gender, race, economic status or origin, have no place in the construction of social transformation processes.
It is therefore necessary, from our investigative, social and cultural environments, to ensure the creation of work, research and creative environments in which the staunch defense of difference and the consolidation of knowledge networks mediated by respect, the joint construction of knowledge and, above all, solidarity in the struggles to make our territories spaces for peace, difference and care are central.
That is why, from our Working Group, we stand in solidarity with the victims of any form of abuse and, with the hopeful, creative and resilient strength that critical thinking offers, we reaffirm our commitment to an inclusive, convergent academy and, ultimately, to life, respect and difference.
