First Congress on Universal Basic Income: Thinking about Basic Income in a context of crisis and transformation in Latin America

The Latin American Network for Basic Income was created as a formal forum for study and dialogue among various actors and organizations interested in deepening the emerging discussion on Universal Basic Income (UBI). Alongside the regional network, national and local networks deployed their coordinated efforts to offer platforms for exchanging ideas and exploring UBI.
In that context arises the First Latin American Congress for Unconditional Universal Basic Income (UBI)It serves as a platform for exchanging and exploring UBI, fostering dialogue with movements, social organizations, and local governments throughout Latin America and the rest of the world. Its main purpose is to broaden and democratize the boundaries of discussion on UBI, learn about experiences, highlight its core principles, and coordinate future working networks.
The Costa Rican UBI Network, host of the First Latin American Congress for UBI, invites, either as speakers or listeners, people linked to academia, public administration, social movements, community and civil society organizations, and in general all people interested in UBI and its possibilities.
On July 18th, from 8:00 to 10:00 AM, the CLACSO Working Group on Social Security and Pension Systems She will participate in a special panel that will include Karina Batthyány, Executive Director of CLACSO, Berenice P. Ramírez López (Mexico) and Sergio Carpenter (Argentina), coordinators of the Working Group, along with Gabriel Badillo González. This event will take place in the Daniel Oduber Auditorium.
