In-person presentation of the book Pension systems with a gender focus – CLACSO and the CISS

The presentation was part of Social Security Week 2025, "The Impact of Artificial Intelligence on Social Security."

The book embodies the convergence of two key research agendas of the Conference: the pension systems agenda and the care agenda, both with a gender perspective.
At the same time, it is an inter-institutional alliance between CISS and CLACSO that contributes significantly to strengthening the vision and promoting the design of a social security system with a gender and rights focus based on evidence and good practices of programs and public policies in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The session was moderated by Jessica Rubí Rodríguez Balderas, Executive Director of Projects and Research at the Inter-American Conference on Social Security, who welcomed the participants with opening remarks. Following this, Karina Batthyány, Executive Director of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO), delivered an institutional message that framed the topic's relevance from a regional perspective. The book's general presentation was given by Lourdes Jiménez Brito and Carlos Contreras Cruz, who were responsible for the publication's editorial coordination. Later, Giancarlo Roach Rivas, from the Latin American Faculty of Social Sciences (FLACSO), spoke on behalf of the academic research team, and Javiera Pastén Palominos, from the Chilean Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare, spoke on behalf of the social security institutions' research team. To conclude, Dr. Isalia Nava, a researcher at the Institute of Economic Research of the UNAM, shared her comments on the work, highlighting the main contributions and some key points to continue the conversation.
