Concern over the humanitarian situation of the Palestinian people in Gaza

The CLACSO Steering Committee expresses its deep concern about the humanitarian situation suffered by the Palestinian people in Gaza and expresses its repudiation of the practices implemented by the Israeli army in its occupation of said territory, noting that responding to the terrorist actions suffered with practices of the same nature is unacceptable.
The Israeli government is committing genocide by promoting the killing of the Palestinian civilian population, including children. It is also causing their forced displacement, preventing the distribution of humanitarian aid, destroying essential infrastructure, and obstructing the international press from reporting on the situation.
The Palestinian civilian population faces unimaginable suffering due to the military actions, blockades, and restrictions unilaterally imposed by the Israeli government, which violate numerous principles of humanitarian law such as access to medical care, water, food, and energy, and also impede international cooperation and assistance.
According to reports circulating in major media outlets, the multinational humanitarian flotilla carrying aid for the civilian population in Gaza has been intercepted by the Israeli navy in international waters, violating all principles of legality under international law. This demonstrates that the State of Israel has lost all respect for human rights and international humanitarian law.
It is essential that the international community act with determination and commitment to alleviate the suffering of the inhabitants of Gaza, promoting the unrestricted respect for human rights and ensuring the protection of civilian populations.
It is essential to promote the return of peace based on genuine dialogue and negotiations that lead to an immediate cessation of isolation measures and population displacement, promoting a lasting and just political solution that includes full recognition of the State of Palestine, its territorial integrity, and that restores the human dignity lost in the region.
