This book brings together recent works by 11 former presidents of the Latin American Sociological Association (ALAS), organized, edited, and introduced by the Dominican researcher and writer Pedro José Ortega. It is dedicated to the tradition of Latin American and Caribbean critical thought that this institution has courageously upheld for over 70 years and to the ideal of cultural, political, and economic unity in Latin America and the Caribbean. The text is a testament to faith and hope in fostering a new form of cooperation among human beings that allows us to envision a better world, one of social justice and recognition of diversity.
