For the right of peoples to resist
No to state terrorism!
For the right of peoples to resist!
The CLACSO Political Agroecology Working Group stands in solidarity with the Ecuadorian people, who resist and refuse to be silenced in the face of the repeated abuses of the current government. Since taking office, this government has implemented policies that continue to impoverish, marginalize, violate, and persecute the lives of Ecuadorian workers. This precarious situation disproportionately affects the most vulnerable social groups, such as women, youth, children, and the elderly, primarily in rural areas and among Indigenous communities. This impoverishment is systemic and compounded by racism and patriarchy.
Decree 126, approved on September 13 of this year, which eliminates the diesel subsidy, is nothing more than a smokescreen used by the regime to disorient the population, generate social chaos, and exacerbate the economic crisis, with the firm intention of continuing to polarize the political forces in the country in order to attempt to modify the Constitution of Ecuador, drafted in 2008 with the participation of the Ecuadorian people, and which recognizes and affirms the rights of the people and of nature, which have been violated by the current regime, such as the right to protest and resistance, mentioned in Article 98.
We also strongly condemn the lethal and escalating use of force by the state's repressive apparatus against the sovereign people, who today mark 17 days of struggle and resistance for their dignity. This struggle has resulted in the murder of our comrade Efraín Fuerez, a community member from the province of Imbabura, and in numerous injuries and arrests. We reject both the acts committed and the fascist and racist hate speech by the government and its affiliated media outlets that attempt to legitimize the violence.
The self-organized grassroots organizations resisting in the national strike are part of the peasant and family farming communities, rural and urban workers who feed the population, sustain the economy, and cultivate the land with love and dedication. These people are being unjustly murdered, tortured, and persecuted by Noboa's plutocratic government.
We know that if agriculture stops, cities won't be fed, which is why it is crucial that the demands of the Ecuadorian people be recognized urgently. Therefore, we urge the government to serve the people, not the International Monetary Fund (IMF), drug trafficking, and extractive industries. And in support of social movements, we demand respect, freedom, and justice for those murdered, repressed, and imprisoned for defending the rights of all Ecuadorians.
We stand in solidarity with and support the mobilizations of the Ecuadorian people for their dignity and for the life of all.
Long live the people who fight!
From Ecuador to Palestine!
