Within the framework of the Observatory on Childhood and Youth, this report seeks to contribute to the discussion on childhood and youth policies in Latin America from a qualitative analytical perspective. We begin by identifying and characterizing different actions within the framework of public policies that promote the participation of children, adolescents, and young people, and that are driven by various agencies and institutions at national and sub-national levels, as well as by social organizations or movements linked to childhood and youth that seek to influence public policy agendas.

This preliminary report focuses its analysis on two countries in the region, Argentina and Chile, within the context of the COVID-19 pandemic beginning in 2020. Given the urgent needs created by the pandemic, this report also seeks to generate knowledge about the ways in which [these issues] are produced.
