How do different actors objectify and reflect on crises and processes of change? How is identity negotiated and reinvented? How are people immersed in crisis processes able to reconfigure an imaginary transnational and/or local arena through which different symbolic and material manifestations of affect circulate? These are the main questions that organize this collective volume, which focuses on the articulation between politics, affects, and identities. The contributions that comprise it, on the one hand, start from affects as a force that resists the disciplinary control of the State; on the other, they critique its conservatism in legitimizing the invasion of the market and economic logic into the most intimate and private spheres. From the perspectives shaped by affect theory, the affective turn, queer theories and feminist perspectives, the history of emotions and intimacy, among other approaches, this book aims to recover and make the emotional experience the protagonist, which otherwise risks being lost or dissolved.
