During the first half of 2020, in collaboration with Universidade de Brasília and the Observatório das Migrações Internacionais, the pandemic and preventative isolation impacted everyone's lives, forcing a re-evaluation of social problems from new perspectives. Understanding pre-existing tensions and inequalities allows us to address relationships and processes that will be similar in some aspects and different in many others.

Its consequences are particularly complex in contexts of poverty and migration. The reinforcement of the image of the border as a threatening and dangerous space, the restriction of mobility, the struggle for inclusion in state containment efforts, the segmentation and increased vulnerability of the labor market, and access to education in situations of isolation for children and young people, all point to a landscape that has been especially altered for the migrant population.
