Paulo Freire more than ever
A philosophical biography
“What concerns me most, inspired by Paulo Freire, is to philosophically develop a consistent political position for those who educate. I want to propose a policy worth defending, sensitive to Brazilian reality, and one that helps it become more just, worthy of being lived by all who inhabit that land,” says Brazilian professor and researcher Walter Kohan in the presentation of his work “Paulo Freire More Than Ever: A Philosophical Biography,” published by CLACSO.
In the prologue, Carlos Skliar observes that “this book is itself a symbol of what a teacher can evoke in us and of the tangible act of responding to its effects and emotions.” He elaborates: “Beyond the manifest, effective purpose, the intentionality of the quest—to write a philosophical biography of Paulo Freire—there is in this book a real journey, and there is also an explicit attention to certain opportunities… To understand Freire’s work, the author undertook a real journey through his writings, and to speak about that reading, he maintained a peculiar concentration for a time, as if nothing else existed, or as if only this existed, or as if attention could only be paid to this way of traveling toward Paulo Freire.”
