Paulo Freire, educator of America
The name Paulo Freire signifies much more than the figure of the most universal of Latin American educators: to evoke his name is to appeal to a conception of education as a tool for social transformation; to a commitment to the dignification of teachers as intellectuals of culture; to an understanding of education as a political tool; to a commitment to the school as a space of freedom.
CLACSO, together with centers, networks, movements and working groups, commemorates the great Brazilian educator through a digital space that seeks to share and promote the initiatives carried out 100 years after his birth.

Call for entries: Open and collaborative virtual fair of youth work on the work and thought of Paulo Freire in the 21st century

Paulo Freire was a person committed to change and social transformation. His educational approach is based on the profound human capacity to reinvent ourselves and create viable new solutions. What aspects of his legacy remain relevant for understanding the present? How can we reinvent Freire in light of the challenges we face? How do his teachings resonate within the context of digital culture?
To answer these questions, we want to focus on the key players in the transformation processes of Our America: young people. To this end, we propose an open and free call for submissions in the form of a youth work fair, which consists of creating a digital work or product based on Paulo Freire.
Beyond being a space to showcase the results of their talents, we seek to extend an invitation to the meeting, on the occasion of the celebration of the centenary of this renowned thinker who promoted popular education in all its forms, from collective processes, to learn together.
The call for proposals is based on the principle of not pursuing a competition where certain winners are selected for public recognition, but rather on ensuring that all proposals received are recognized, supported, and disseminated. We understand that this approach aligns with Freire's perspective in its deepest, most dialogical and equitable sense.
