The Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO), the CLACSO Working Groups: “Caribbean Critical and Decolonizing Thought” and “Crisis, Responses and Alternatives in the Greater Caribbean”, the Rosa Luxemburg Foundation-Mexico Office, the Center for Caribbean Studies of Casa de las Américas, the Institute of Philosophy, the “Franz Hinkelammert” Chair of Critical Thought of the Institute of Philosophy, the “Norman Girvan” Chair of Caribbean Studies of the University of Havana, and the Center for Martí Studies, invite advanced master's and doctoral students, researchers and scholars of critical thought and paradigms of emancipation in the Caribbean and Latin America, and social actors committed to the study of these forms of thought and transformation in Our America to submit their applications to participate in the 1st International Postgraduate School: Critical paradigms of emancipation in the Caribbean and Latin America, to be held in Havana from October 10 to 13, 2017.

This School will be held to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the death in Bolivia (October 8, 1967) of Ernesto "Che" Guevara, one of the most notable critical thinkers and actors of recent years for the Caribbean, Latin America, and the entire Global South, as well as the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO). It will also serve as an opportunity to begin the commemoration of the centenary of the October Revolution in Russia and the bicentenary of Karl Marx's birth.
