Pandemic and Social Security in Latin America
The need to promote reflection on the evolution of pension systems, and with it the possibility of contributing ideas that help the development of our societies, motivated the Friedrich Ebert Foundation (FES), the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO), through its Social Security and Pension Systems Working Group, and the Argentine Institute for Economic Development (IADE), to jointly promote a series of activities addressing the various challenges of social security. The central role of the State in guaranteeing access to basic rights, such as meeting the needs of older adults, children, and the population in general, as well as its counterpart in terms of financial sustainability, inequalities, and gender issues present in its heterogeneous social and institutional composition, are some of the topics that require attention within the complexity of the social security system.
