New attempts to destabilize Cuban society

Statement from the Martí Program Office, the Center for Martí Studies, and the José Martí Cultural Society

In the face of renewed attempts by US-paid mercenaries to destabilize Cuban society—attempts that, taking advantage of the country's current situation resulting from the US embargo and the pandemic, are spreading lies and slander on social media and, in certain places, attempting to sow confusion among sectors of the population—the Martí Program Office and its entire institutional system, particularly the Center for Martí Studies and the José Martí Cultural Society, express their strongest condemnation of these actions and reaffirm their conviction that the Revolution and the people—as has always been the case—will defeat those who aspire to turn back the clock and transform this country into a Yankee appendage.

Cuba's colossal efforts to emerge victorious from the global crisis caused in large part by the COVID-19 pandemic, which in our case is aggravated by the fierce US-American blockade, are unparalleled in history.

These infamous actions, clearly coordinated from Miami by the Cuban-origin terrorist mafia entrenched there under the umbrella of US governments since 1959, deserve not only contempt but also the full force of the law. As José Martí warned: “When fighting for the existence of the homeland, division and rivalry are crimes.”

The Cuban people, deeply revolutionary and patriotic, will respond to such crimes in their work and in the streets; and once again the empire, its accomplices and puppets will taste the dust of defeat.
