This volume maps the last twenty-five years of Latin American studies, organized by key shifts. Its sixteen chapters, ranging from the memory turn and the decolonial turn to the transatlantic and affective turns, include a review of the essential literature for understanding the respective paradigmatic shifts and their effects on the broader field of Latin American studies, as well as an evaluation of the achievements, possibilities, and limitations of the transformations under study. Through a broad overview—though not without its controversies and debates—of the radical transformation of the field's themes, problems, scope, and epistemological and methodological assumptions during this period, it suggests some paths for the immediate future.
