New approaches to Latin American studies: Culture and power

This new volume, co-published by CLACSO and UNAM, offers a cartography of the last twenty-five years of Latin American studies, organized by key shifts. Its sixteen chapters, ranging from the memory shift and the decolonial to the transatlantic and affective shifts, include a review of the essential literature for understanding the respective paradigmatic change and its effects on the broader field of Latin American studies, as well as an evaluation of the achievements, possibilities, and limitations of the transformation under study. Through a broad overview—though not without its controversies and debates—of the radical transformation of the field's themes, problems, scope, and epistemological and methodological assumptions during this period, it suggests some paths for the immediate future.
