New perspectives on integration, cooperation and multilateralism for South America

On Friday, February 3, the regional essay contest “New perspectives on integration, cooperation and multilateralism in South America” was launched, which has a national category and another for members of South American countries.
The National Agency for the Promotion of Research, Technological Development and Innovation (I+D+i Agency), the Casa Patria Grande “President Néstor C. Kirchner”, a decentralized body of the General Secretariat of the Presidency of the Argentine Nation, and the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO), are calling for a Regional Competition (RC) in the South American sphere with the objective of promoting the production of essays that update the agenda of regional integration, cooperation and multilateralism and point out ways to remove the obstacles that condition collective development.

The essay should be linked to thematic areas of strategic interest for strengthening regional integration, cooperation, and multilateralism. Below is a suggested list of key themes around which to develop proposals. This list is not exhaustive and does not exclude other topics.
● Self-sufficiency and integration in Energy
● Health Self-Sufficiency
● Common Defense Strategy
● Articulation in economics, finance and currency
● Infrastructure cooperation
● UNASUR
Teams of one person or up to four people may apply, provided they meet the following requirements for each category:
National Category (minimum 1 member, maximum 4):
All team members have a university or tertiary degree.
All team members are residents of the Republic of Argentina
Regional Category (minimum 2 members, maximum 4):
All team members have a university or tertiary degree.
All team members must reside in South American countries, where:
At least one of the team members must be a resident of the Republic of Argentina.
At least one of the team members must be a resident of a South American country other than the Republic of Argentina.
The prizes will consist of the following amounts:
Category 1 – NATIONAL
Three prizes, each of them worth FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND Argentine pesos ($500.000)
Up to 3 special mentions.
Category 2 – REGIONAL
Three prizes, each of them of SEVEN HUNDRED THOUSAND Argentine pesos ($700.000)
Up to 3 special mentions.
In addition, the best works will be selected to be compiled and published in a digital book edited by CLACSO, which will be available in virtual format.
Inquiries, registrations, and submission of essays will be conducted through the Interinstitutional Competition Platform of the R&D&I Agency, for which the respective modules will be enabled progressively. Interested parties should check it regularly for answers to their inquiries and to stay informed of any notifications.
Registration and submissions are expected to begin in April/May 2023. Final dates will be published in the module of NOTIFICATIONS AND ANSWERS TO INQUIRIES.
