Our America, a zone of peace

CLACSO joins the voices calling for an urgent diplomatic and negotiated solution in the Middle East that puts a stop to the cycle of violence, the arms race, and opens an opportunity for peace negotiations to advance towards a regime of non-proliferation and nuclear disarmament.

As always happens with indiscriminate bombings in densely populated areas, the main victims are civilians, in addition to damage to vital infrastructure, such as hospital facilities, schools, and refugee centers.

In that context, we reaffirm Our America as a zone of peace, peaceful coexistence and cooperation, where the use of force never prevails over the peaceful resolution of conflicts, respect for the rule of law and nuclear disarmament, as proclaimed by the II Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) in Havana in January 2014.
