NO TO THE COUP IN BOLIVIA
The Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO) rejects the coup in Bolivia that forced the resignation of the sitting constitutional President Evo Morales Ayma and Vice President Álvaro García Linera.
It also condemns the interference of the Armed Forces and Security Forces in institutional life: the Army and the Police have no place in the political problems of any country. Democratic conflicts are resolved with more democracy, rights, and freedoms, not with repression, violence, and persecution.
Likewise, CLACSO rejects all foreign interference that seeks to destabilize the region.
The CLACSO Steering Committee calls for the preservation of the lives of Bolivians, for an end to the attacks and persecutions, and for a peaceful and negotiated solution to be found, which, although laborious, is based on the will of the majority of the people of the Plurinational State of Bolivia and its legitimate institutions.
