Nelly Richard, Honorary Doctor

On Thursday, August 25, the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) awarded the diploma of Doctor Honoris Causa to the Chilean critic, essayist and teacher Nelly RichardIn his speech, he highlighted the value of the UBA as the "greatest Latin American symbol" of the "public university" and that the recognition constitutes a relevant fact in the relations between Argentina and Chile.

CLACSO He was present at the ceremony to present her with the latest volume of his work published by our imprint: Social uprising and a new constitution.
Likewise, Fernanda Pampín, Director of Publications of CLACSO, participated on Friday the 26th in the reception at the Embassy of Chile in Argentina on the occasion of the awarding of the Honorary Doctorate of the UBA to Nelly Richard.

Nelly Richard was born in France in 1948 and has lived in Chile since 1970. She gave theoretical form to the Escena de Avanzada (Advanced Scene), internationally recognized as the main experimental reference point for art of resistance to the military dictatorship in the 1970s and 80s. She was the founder of the Revista de crítica cultural (Journal of Cultural Criticism) (1990-2008) and directed the Master's Program in Cultural Studies at ARCIS University in Santiago, Chile (2006-2013). Among her most important publications are Margins and Institutions (1986) Residues and Metaphors: Essays in Cultural Criticism on Chile during the Transition (1998) Fractures of memory. Art and critical thinking (2007), y Feminism, gender and difference(s) (2008).
