 We will not be indifferent

Pairam sobre a humanitye irreversíveis catastrophes. The threats of nuclear wars, extreme climate events and civilizational regressions are observed, measured and compared, resulting from conservative, ultra-neoliberal and extreme-direct policies, imposed by the forces of international mechanisms of capitalist, militarist and imperialist structural adjustments. It is essential, before this scene, to defend the historical project that overcomes wars, the devastation of nature, the loss of national sovereignty and the suppression of rights and social conquests resulting from permanent social struggles.

The possibility of deepening or no loss of sovereignty, with impositions and foreign interference in elected processes, the destruction of the Democratic State of Direito, the erosion of conquests of the working class, the struggle for public policies of greater scope and quality, even as radical changes do not The political scenario is evident in the successive attempted coups in Brazil and in the Government Programs presented for the 2026 elections (to take place in the first turn on October 04, and, in the eventual second turn, on October 25, 2026).

There is an urgent need to defend broader and more qualified public policies for the reversal of commercialization of two directions, or the restoration of constitutional values related to education, health, science, art and culture, in order to prevent political decisions vital to the Brazilian population from continuing to be dominated by financial capital.

Given these events, we cannot be indifferent. We manifest ourselves, as a scientific entity, as humanists and progressists, in defense of life and of a society project that does not fit devastating wars, destruction of sovereignty, democracy, two rights and the conquests of workers.

We defend, however, a radical and profound change for expanded and qualified public policies, which guarantee a dignified life. This leads us to conclaim that we are using the ballot boxes to define the political paths in the 2026 elections, not Brazil, to vote for candidates with a humanist and progressist orientation, truly focused on promoting the interests and concrete demands of workers. These candidacies must allow for civilizational advances, and not retrocesses.

We affirm, thus, without illusions and in a critical manner, OUR SUPPORT FOR THE CANDIDATURE OF LUIZ INÁCIO LULA DA SILVA FOR PRESIDENT OF BRASIL (LULA 13) , admitting that there is a permanent struggle to overcome civilizing regressions.
