The Forum Social and Territorial Movements for Life it's part of Platform for Social Dialogue Social Movements and Ativism in Latin America and the Caribbean, which CLACSO is promoting for the coming years.
The objective of this proposal is to achieve the production of evidence-based, critical and situated knowledge, with high impact on the definition of policies, in the formation of public opinion and in the positive transformation of the living conditions of the most vulnerable populations.
This Forum aims to bring together members of Latin American and Caribbean academia, social movements, organizations and collectives, and public policy makers to reflect and understand the proposals, capacities, potentialities, pending agendas and conflicts of the social and activism movements in Latin America and the Caribbean. The objective is to build a global and interconnected vision of current activism, focused on the analysis of environmental struggles, the struggles of migrants, the struggles of indigenous people and two urban territories. The focus will be on current events, also considering stories and memories.
Within the Forum, various activities will be carried out, such as the International Graduate School of Social Movements and Ativisms, training offices, exhibition of audiovisual materials and round tables. These dialogues are conceived as spaces for exchange and conversation, where results will be presented to stimulate debates on the central theme of the Forum among a diversity of participants, such as researchers, public policy actors and members of social organizations.
INTERNATIONAL PÓS-GRADUAÇÃO SCHOOL – TRAINING OFFICES

A Escola Internacional de Pós-Graduação em Movimentos Sociais e Ativismos, an intensive face-to-face training space at the post-graduation level in a comparative and regional perspective, which aims to train students to understand the current forms of activism and express the two social movements in America and the Caribbean. It is hoped that this training proposal will contribute to the articulation of activism and two social movements with territories, communities and social references.
The activities of the School are free (transport, lodging or food will not be covered)
To be approved at the International Graduate School of Social Movements and Ativisms it is necessary participate in 4 academic program offices (June 29 and 30) and das atividades do fórum (see full program of activities). Digital certificates of participation (CLACSO) will be issued.
The offices can also be held individually (only free with limited vacancies).

The forum is oriented around a series of common quests. Likewise, each dialogue is organized around a set of quests that trigger the debate.
The questions that will guide the Forum will be as follows:
- How do memories of past struggles contribute to thinking about non-present practices?
- What are the conditions that favor the emergence, development and eventual decline of our social movements and activisms and their struggles? How to face the unfavorable conditions that extreme strength requires?
- How do you know the gender and generation relations within two collective movements? How do gender and generational differences occur in decision-making, in our modes of debate, in the distribution of responsibilities, and do we not respect diversity? How can we contribute to transform heteropatriarchy practices and generational inequalities in our movements and their struggles?
- How do social and activist movements in current struggles articulate, cooperate and work together? What are the main obstacles that you face in this collaboration?
Dialogue 1: Indigenous Peoples, Territories and Defense of Life
- What are the main social movements and indigenous and activist organizations in defense of territory and life in Brazil and in Latin America and the Caribbean? What are your main challenges and obstacles, with your singularities and points in common?
- How are indigenous movements and struggles articulated with other forms of resistance, such as feminist, anti-racist and human rights movements, among others?
- How are social inequalities expressed in our movements and what is the place of women, two dissidents and two young people? How to promote your participation?
Dialogue 2: Urban Territories and the challenges of defending life
- What are the main fights between two urban social movements and two activists in defense of two territories and life in Brazil, in Latin America and in the Caribbean? What are your main challenges and obstacles, with your singularities and points in common?
- How are anti-racist struggles currently taking place in the urban territories of Brazil, Latin America and the Caribbean?
- How are social inequalities expressed in movements and what is the place for women, two dissidents and two young people? How to promote your participation?
Dialogue 3: Agricultural and Environmental Conflicts and the challenges in defending two territories to live well
- What are the movements, organizations and agendas that lead agricultural and environmental struggles in Brazil, in Latin America and in the Caribbean? In what fights are these movements currently involved?
- What are the main challenges and obstacles faced by environmental and agricultural social movements and how do they confront us?
- What are the possibilities of transforming the environmental and agricultural crisis that the new progressive or popular governments of the region are proposing?
- What is the place for women, two dissidents and two young people in agricultural and environmental fights? How to promote your participation?
Dialogue 4: Migrations and direction to territory and life
- What are the main movements, organizations and struggles of migrants in Brazil, in Latin America and in the Caribbean? What are your main challenges and obstacles, with your singularities and points in common?
- How do activists from different countries of origin articulate movements and struggles between migrants? How do power relations within these groups respect the cultural and ethnic diversity of their participants?
- How are the direct fights of two migrants articulated with other fights for the transformation of host societies? What is the impact of the struggles of migrants on the consolidation of the lives of two cities?
- How do social inequalities express our movements and what is the place of women, two dissidents and two young people?
