The conceptualization of care in the Latin American and Caribbean region stems primarily from analyses of the sexual division of labor, the reproductive system, and domestic work—notions that originated in Marxist and socialist feminism. Latin American perspectives on care have also strongly emphasized it as a central element of an alternative, feminist economy, as well as a key component of social well-being.
This book presents a collective reflection on care as a concept in continuous theoretical development, around which numerous questions arise regarding its definition and delimitation. At the same time, this makes it a fertile field of research.
The Latin American Perspectives collection. A state of the debate aims to highlight theoretical, methodological and thematic developments in various fields of knowledge, both through trans and interdisciplinary perspectives, and from different intellectual traditions.
