CLACSO Working Group The Central American Isthmus: Peripheral Epistemological Perspectives
Science differs from other knowledge in its form of production: the scientific method. In the Humanities, the challenge is to reconcile minimum standards of methodological rigor in the investigation of a myriad of objects and subjects in the epistemological diversity of the area. The equation of this challenge is not inferential pluralism and not research development, which harmonizes different strategies for the production of descriptive and causal inferences with minimum parameters of methodological rigor, reinforcing the public, collective and systematic dimension of scientific production. Due to the potential of Science to alter political-social reality, the quality of its production is even more relevant in contexts of vulnerability. This is the objective of this volume, to strengthen scientific knowledge in the periphery through the dissemination of knowledge on inferential pluralism, research development and techniques.
