Proceedings of the 1st International Seminar on Intersectionality, Equity and Social Policies 

The intersectional approach is one of the most impactful epistemological frameworks in the social sciences today. Although its origins can be traced back to the 19th century, it has only recently come to the forefront, stemming from counter-hegemonic feminist positions developed within academia and social movements.  

Given the growing prominence of this perspective, the Research area: Social inequalities and equity policies of FLACSO Cuba, summoned the 1st International Seminar on Intersectionality, Equity and Social Policies as a space for reflection on the topic among researchers, decision-makers, project coordinators and social activists. 

During the days of December 2 and 3, 2021, this important meeting brought together —in hybrid mode— a total of 45 works, authored by 75 specialists from Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador, Spain, Mexico and Peru. 

El CLACSO Working Group What Development? Dialogue between academia and politicsThis publication presents a compilation of this collective work, bringing together 32 of the papers presented. These papers are divided into five sections: Theoretical and methodological contributions of the intersectional approach; Territory, locality, and community social work; Education; Inequalities and public policies; and Risk, vulnerability, and crisis.
