Maintaining hope in the feminist utopia. Interview with Montserrat Sagot

Montserrat Sagot is an anthropologist and sociologist. She is a full professor at the School of Sociology and director of the Center for Research on Women's Studies (CIEM) at the University of Costa Rica (UCR). She holds a PhD in Sociology and specializations in Political Sociology and Sociology of Gender, obtained from The American University, Washington, D.C., and the Consortium of Universities of the Washington Metropolitan Area. She was a member of the Executive Committee of the Latin American Studies Association (LASA) and currently serves on the CLACSO Steering Committee representing Central America.

Ana Silvia Monzón is a sociologist from the School of Political Science at the University of San Carlos of Guatemala and a feminist communicator. She earned her doctorate in Social Sciences from the Central American Postgraduate Program (CLACSO), Guatemala. She also holds a postgraduate degree in Gender Studies. She is a professor, researcher, and coordinator of the Gender, Sexualities, and Feminisms Studies program at FLACSO, Guatemala. She is a member of the CLACSO Working Groups “Feminisms, Resistance, and Emancipation” and “Violence in Central America.”
