Falkland Islands, Antarctica and the South Atlantic: colonialism, sovereignty and development in the 21st century

The Secretariat for the Malvinas, Antarctica, and South Atlantic of the Argentine government, the Undersecretariat of University Policies, the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO), and the National University of Tierra del Fuego (UNTDF) launched the call for essays on May 12th, titled “Malvinas, Antarctica, and the South Atlantic: Colonialism, Sovereignty, and Development in the 21st Century.” The competition will award up to ten original essays. The deadline for submissions is July 27th.

The presentation, held virtually, featured the participation of Daniel Filmus, Secretary for the Malvinas, Antarctica, and South Atlantic; Karina Batthyány, Executive Secretary of CLACSO; Jaime Perczyk, Secretary of University Policies; César Albornoz, Undersecretary of University Policies; Juan Castelucci, Rector of the National University of Tierra del Fuego; and Patricia Vara, Academic Secretary of the National University of Tierra del Fuego. The event was moderated by Uriel Erlich, from the Secretariat for the Malvinas, Antarctica, and South Atlantic, and Pablo Vommaro, Director of Research at CLACSO. The event was hosted by the Faculty of Philosophy and Letters of the University of Buenos Aires (FFyL-UBA), the Center for Innovation of Workers – Metropolitan University for Education and Labor (CITRA – UMET), and the Institute of Culture, Society, and State (ICSE-UNTDF).
