Democracy triumphed over fascism. Freedom prevailed over authoritarianism. Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva is the new president of Brazil.
The Brazilian people celebrate the popular victory, determined to turn the page on 4 years of anti-popular, neoliberal and repressive government by Jair Bolsonaro.
Gone are the days of persecution, of a parliamentary coup against Dilma Rousseff, of the proscription and imprisonment of Lula da Silva, of a dirty, violent campaign at the hands of the Brazilian retrograde right.
The triumph of the democratic candidate opens a new hope for Latin America and the Caribbean, accompanying the recent victories of popular governments in several countries of the region, towards greater integration, fraternity, social and political justice, equality and in pursuit of the realization of the aspirations of the people.
Congratulations President Lula. Congratulations to the people of Brazil.
