CLACSO Working Group Crisis and World Economy
This work, presented in two volumes, is the result of the collaboration of researchers from three networks: the Network for World Economy Studies, the CLACSO Working Group on Crisis and the World Economy, and the Latin American and Caribbean Society for Political Economy and Critical Thought. The texts in both volumes were written in the months following a seminar held in October 2022 at the Faculty of Economic Sciences of the National University of Río Cuarto. This three-day seminar focused on the current global and regional economic situation, which has been significantly impacted by the pandemic and subsequently by the Russia-Ukraine conflict, exacerbating a pre-existing economic downturn.
To present the 28 texts that comprise the two volumes, those related to the global situation have been grouped in the first volume, while those related to Latin America and the Caribbean are found in the second. This first volume contains 16 texts that review the trends, problems, and conflicts currently present in the global system, with an emphasis, though not exclusively, on its economic sphere. This review highlights, from different perspectives and with emphasis on various components, that a series of serious crises have converged in the development of the global system since 2020, generating a global panorama of almost unprecedented deterioration and very high levels of uncertainty regarding the years to come.
