Considering the life and academic trajectories of research subjects from an intersectional and multidimensional perspective allows for a critical approach to both the study of public policies aimed at attracting highly qualified personnel and university programs for the internationalization of higher education that involve the displacement of a young population within the region for study purposes. In this sense, these themes are addressed through theoretical discussions on social class and accessibility to academic mobility programs, as well as the construction of categories by the State and public institutions that hierarchize and classify students and their trajectories according to their legal/migratory status. Finally, it is worth highlighting that focusing our Latin American analytical perspective on certain previously invisible forms of skilled migration has allowed us to construct an alternative research agenda aimed at developing an epistemological perspective from the Global South. In this sense, this book represents a further step in our commitment to the challenges currently posed by the study of skilled migration in our region. From the Introduction
