“The municipalities of the Buenos Aires metropolitan area facing the second wave – Analysis and guidelines for action against COVID-19”, an edition of the National University of General Sarmiento of Argentina, presents the latest results generated within the framework of the project “Prevention and monitoring of COVID-19 in municipalities of the Buenos Aires metropolitan area from a multidimensional perspective”, selected by the National Agency for the Promotion of Research, Technological Development and Innovation (I+D+i Agency) of the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MINCyT), whose development extended from August 2020 to July 2021.

These latest contributions, in a dynamic and ever-changing scenario such as that which has characterized the evolution of the pandemic, are aimed at examining recent impacts on various levels and proposing guidelines for policy action. Thus, the municipalities of Greater Buenos Aires, in the face of the second wave, have shown different problems, levels of response, and transformations that have occurred at the social, economic, institutional, and territorial levels. This material seeks to account for the most relevant aspects of the current situation and contribute to the debate regarding policy recommendations that can be used by governmental and social actors.
