CLACSO Working Group on Citizenship, Popular Organizations and Political Representation
This book is the latest collective work of the CLACSO Working Group on “Citizenship, Popular Organizations, and Political Representation.” For over twenty years, this group undertook a general reflection on the mutations in contemporary democracy through a comparative analysis of the transformations that have taken place in Latin American politics. The Group's work was structured around three thematic axes: political representation, citizenship and social protest, and democratization and populism, paying attention to electoral processes and critical junctures in various countries of the region. The papers presented here are the result of a panel discussion on political processes in Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, and Uruguay, held at the 9th Latin American and Caribbean Conference of Social Sciences in Mexico City, from June 7 to 10, 2022.
