The last few decades have seen the expansion and deepening of the digital world, a sphere that has shaped (through its dynamics and information and communication technologies) forms of sociability, modes of work and production, educational experiences, and processes of identity formation and subjectivation. These dynamics predate the COVID-19 pandemic, but it is clear that they intensified during its course, especially in the educational sphere and in the affective and relational dimensions. It was a time when inequalities were amplified and deepened in their multidimensionality: in the digital realm (access to devices, connectivity), generational, gender, and territorial spheres, among others.

Within this framework, the National Secretariat for Children, Adolescents, and Families (SENAF) of the Ministry of Social Development and the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO) launched a research call for teams based in Argentina. Their work comprises this book, whose contents will challenge us in diverse and unique ways to continue investigating and working—from academia, public policy, and social activism—on how children and adolescents inhabit the digital world, addressing the challenges and pending issues before, during, and after the pandemic.
