The six chapters that make up this volume are the final texts of each of the research projects developed within the framework of the call for proposals "Social Movements and Activism in Latin America and the Caribbean: Their Place in the Current Context: Experiences and Projections," launched by CLACSO in 2023. Reading them is timely for understanding aspects of the region's current situation, marked by mass protests, popular uprisings, and the prominence of diverse social movements that—from their specific perspectives—oppose the multiple affronts of neoliberalism. The limitations of current democracies in responding to popular demands and the capacity of activism and social movements to challenge institutional structures and their contradictions, as well as their connection to territories, communities, and social leaders, are some of the themes explored in the book.
