Lawfare or Democracy: Against Judicial and Media Persecution

Lawfare or Democracy: Against Judicial and Media Persecution

The Faculty of Journalism and Social Communication of the National University of La Plata, the Pro-Secretariat of Media and Publications of the UNLP, TV Universidad and the CLACSO Working Group Communication, politics and citizenshipThey produced a documentary that brings together political and academic figures from the region to reflect on what "lawfare" is and the consequences it has for democracy.

In audiovisual micro-production, specialists agree that Latin America has long been threatened by destabilization operations, criminalization and political proscription by the judicial, financial and media powers, which limit the actions of democratically elected popular governments.

In this sense, Gabriela Rivadeneira (Ecuador), Pablo Vommaro (Argentina), Emir Sader (Brazil), Marco Enríquez Ominami (Chile), Omar Rincón (Colombia), Karina Betthyány (Uruguay), Juan Ramón Quintana (Bolivia) and the Argentinians Nora Merlín, Florencia Saintout and Andrea Varela, explain and establish their views to understand what are the mechanisms that are activated in judicial persecution to unduly detain political adversaries, paralyze and discredit opponents, disqualify or provoke popular repudiation towards a person with leadership and/or weaken or depose governments.

We propose a journey through these visions by making click here  for thinking and sharing.
