The voices of the children

 The voices of the children

This video stems from a question a journalist posed to former Minister of Education Marcela Cubillos on camera: "Minister, how would you explain to a child, for example, in fourth grade, that the President of the Republic is saying 'we are at war'?" The former minister, who was listening attentively to the question, hesitated and decided not to answer. Media coverage and opinions on social media about current events rarely include the voices of children. Many believe that when it comes to opinions on politics and current affairs, children simply copy adults, so it's not worthwhile to give them a voice.

This adult-centric view goes against the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which states: "The child shall have the right to freedom of expression; this right shall include freedom to seek, receive and impart information and ideas of all kinds, regardless of frontiers, either orally, in writing or in print, in the form of art or through any other media of the child's choice."

That's why we took to the streets, the marches of # Chile woke up , to ask with the authorization of parents and guardians, and with the will and consent of the children, why they were marching and what they think of the minister's silence.
