CIBAM/CLACSO Special Group Latin America and the Balkans: cultural and social links

The variety of topics presented in this volume offers a broad overview of the atmospheres, attitudes, trends, and events that developed and were mutually valued between European and Latin American socialist countries during the Cold War. Undoubtedly, this overview encompasses political and social spheres as well as cultural and artistic ones, always highlighting the intellectual value and commitment of its protagonists. In a sense, all the texts included in this publication demonstrate the indispensable role of culture as a tool that, at that time, was crucial for bringing together two parts of the world that, at first glance, seemed distant but were in fact deeply linked through personal literature, shared memory, published translations, and exchanged cultural expressions.
