The struggle of indigenous peoples for land and identity

-From Honduras: The Garifuna communityTheir culture, their struggles to defend their ancestral territories against discrimination and inequality. With Miriam Miranda, leader of the Garifuna community, leader of the Black Fraternal Organization of Honduras (OFRANEH), Armando Crisanto Meléndez, Director of the Garifuna Cultural Center of Honduras and Director of the National Folkloric Ballet of Honduras, and Ashanty Crisanto, sociologist and actress, manager and cultural promoter of the Garifuna Cultural Center of Honduras.
-From Mexico: Radical autonomies in times of civilizational transitions. With Xochitl Leyva Solano, co-coordinates the Working Group “Bodies, Territories, Resistances”, professor and researcher at the CLACSO Member Center CIESAS, in its Southeast unit located in Chiapas.
-From Buenos Aires: Meeting “Human rights and environmental defenders: protection strategies and regional work”, organized by OXFAM and CLACSO. With C, head of Oxfam Climate Justice in Latin America, Nicolás Avellaneda, Plurales Foundation – Platform of Defenders of the Land and Territory, and Nasha Cuvelier, Co-Founder of Sustainability Without Borders (SSF).
The program for Wednesday, August 27th covers 3 of the main themes. Platforms for Social Dialogue which CLACSO is promoting for the coming years: "Social movements and activism in Latin America and the Caribbean", "Inequalities and poverty in Latin America and the Caribbean", "Environment, climate change and social development".
