BERTA CÁCERES AWARD FOR TEAMS OF WOMEN RESEARCHERS

Topic:
The struggle of women for equality in Latin America and the Caribbean

The Berta Cáceres Prize, "The Struggle of Women for Equality in Latin America and the Caribbean," is organized by CLACSO in homage to the Honduran peasant leader brutally murdered on March 3, 2016, and is open to teams of researchers from all countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. Each applying team must be composed of at least three women from three different countries in the region.

The call for proposals seeks to promote and strengthen relationships between those working in the field of social research and women's movements, linking research and activism, rigorous academic reflection and social struggle. For this reason, teams applying for the Award must be linked to or have some connection with women's collectives and movements, specifying this connection in the proposal submitted.

This Award seeks to recognize and promote the dissemination of the scientific work of women who investigate the processes of production of discrimination, inequalities and gender injustices in their various manifestations such as femicides, segregation and other forms of violence against women.

The methodology, approach, and perspective of the research submitted to this Call for Proposals will be open and flexible, within the stated thematic areas. The proposal must include, in its final stage and as a result of the research work carried out, a face-to-face and/or distance learning initiative aimed at women activists and advocates working in various contexts of the struggle for gender equality in any of the countries of the region.

The prize awarded will be USD 15.000 (fifteen thousand US dollars) to the winning team. Of the total awarded, USD 5.000 will be used to cover the team's travel expenses for meetings among team members, fieldwork, seminars, etc. In addition, up to three (3) honorable mentions will be awarded based on criteria of originality, relevance, and academic quality.
