CLACSO Working Group History and current situation: Marxist perspectives
The health of Marxism is as vital as the multitude of schools of thought that comprise it. The specter of Marx continues to haunt the present; one need only glance at the slogans of the right or read the headlines that identify him as their principal enemy: Marxism here, Marxism there. We will not discuss the arbitrariness of its use here, but rather take it as an indication. Despite the numerous declarations of Marx's death and the impulse to sanitize his ideas, his ghost remains among us, and it is our task, from the present, to reclaim his legacy. In that vein, this book constitutes a first exercise in the general, though not exhaustive, reconstruction of the Marxist tradition in Ecuador, a field still largely to be explored and discovered.
