"The Global Importance of Chinese Modernization"
The International Symposium “The Global Importance of China's Modernization» meets in Chongqing, China, from Wednesday 17 to Saturday 20 June, with participation from Latin American Council of Social Sciences, in the Conference Hall of the West China International Communication Organization.
The meeting brings together academics, sinologists and global opinion leaders to discuss how China's development model impacts the rest of the world, with a special focus on the Global South.
The symposium is based on the idea that modernization is not exclusively synonymous with "Westernization", proposing an alternative path based on the realities of each nation.

Pablo Vommaro, Executive Director of CLACSO, was part of the panel of the open debate “Development and innovation models in urban governance in the Global South: comparative studies between Chongqing and Latin American cities”.
In his speech, he stated that China's modernization offers countries in the Global South "a valuable model in terms of technology, industry and governance."

Central Themes of the Symposium
The academic and political debate of the forum revolves around five fundamental pillars that Beijing defines as the characteristics of its model:
-Massive population scale: Managing the transition to high technology and industrialization with more than 1.400 billion inhabitants.
-Common prosperity: Seeking development that reduces the social gap, differentiating itself from traditional global capitalism.
-Harmonious coexistence with nature: Focusing on the ecological transition and clean technologies as an engine of development.
-Peaceful development: Reject colonialism and the military expansion of the Western past, prioritizing economic cooperation.
During a field visit, experts in Latin America Daniela Perrotta, Coordinator of CLACSO-FOLEC, and Esteban ZotteleFrom Changzhou University, they examined the Chongqing logistics center along with other international guests. Perrotta emphasized that "inland connectivity is a necessity for export development," while Zottele described infrastructure cooperation as "essential for more inclusive growth throughout Latin America."

Featured Activities
The symposium not only features presentations, but also literature exhibits and specific case studies that seek to make the theory tangible:
1. Thought Leadership and Mutual Learning Zone: Translations of key political and academic texts are presented (such as the volumes of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China). Also featured is the presentation of the research report series of CLACSO and the book Six Perspectives on Chinese Modernization de Jiang HuiPublished in Spanish and English to facilitate direct exchange with Latin America and other developing regions.
2. The Local “Success Story”: The event uses model regions such as the municipality of Chongqing to show international experts how policies on connectivity (via 5G networks), smart manufacturing, urban renewal and rural revitalization are applied in everyday life.
