Argentina in the 21st Century

How we are, how we live, and how we coexist in an unequal society. A national survey on social structure

“This book recovers a valuable Latin American academic tradition, in the sense of giving visibility to the problems of exclusion, marginalization and inequalities not only in order to describe and explain them, but also to put into academic, social and political debate the scope of current development policies.”

This work is based on an analysis of the results of the National Survey on Social Structure (ENES), conducted within the framework of the Research Program on Contemporary Argentine Society (PISAC). It draws on a valuable Latin American academic tradition of highlighting the problems of exclusion, marginalization, and inequality, not only to describe and explain them, but also to foster academic, social, and political debate on the scope of current development policies. While the data generated, available through open access, can be used for a wide variety of research from diverse theoretical perspectives, the epistemological, theoretical, and political significance of the collected information is informed by a critical perspective on the current structural socioeconomic conditions that permeate our society.
