Throughout the six chapters of this book, a fascinating perspective emerges on the complex position of young people in various Latin American countries today, and on the dialectic that links—not always harmoniously—youth participation practices and state actions aimed at developing their civic engagement, recognizing them as actors with responsibilities in the collective processes of society. Both dimensions are analyzed in a series of papers that constitute a significant sample of the work carried out in recent years within the CLACSO Working Group on Childhood and Youth, in which social scientists from various Ibero-American countries collaborate.
