El 9th International Workshop on Culture and Inequalities. Theoretical/Methodological Aspects for the Study of Social Inequalities. Rodrigo Espina in memoriamIt was held on December 10 and 11 under the organization of the Cuban Institute of Cultural Research (ICIC) Juan Marinello in collaboration with the Latin American Council of Social Sciences (CLACSO).
The event was a meeting of face-to-face and virtual activities that, through reflection and dialogue, offered theoretical and methodological tools on the subject of inequalities.
Participants at the event analyzed the structural causes of the phenomenon, focusing on dimensions such as generational, territorial, economic, educational, food, cultural, and health factors, to name just a few. Simultaneously, the ensuing discussions outlined action plans to influence the design of social policies, taking into account the various perspectives addressed.
During the meeting, several academic texts focusing on the topic of inequalities from different perspectives were presented. Among them, the book "Rethinking Inequalities Today: Research Itineraries and Experiences," a co-publication resulting from the previous edition of the workshop, stands out.
The exchanges involved numerous participants from diverse institutions, enriching the discussion, providing feedback, and fostering insightful perspectives on the central theme of the event. The speakers represented the following entities:
